Wedstrijd: A.R.S.V.V. Alcazar/Erasmus Dames 4 - Yum Dames 2 Tijdstip: 3 Novemberr 2011 19.15 uur Uitslag: 0-4 Another match day! Signs were good. Home field advantage, the power of the new shirts, a feeling of nothing to lose (since we are still bravely defending the safe ground of the ranking table of our class), and an opponent only a couple of ranks above us. So, to start with the good news: Score-wise, this was one of our best games! On average we scored 12,25 points per set - just to compare, in our very first match it was 5,25 points! :P Also, we had a good flow of playing together and managed to keep the ball in the game for a considerable amount of time, thus making it harder for the opponent to score easily. However, some obstacles were put in our way and prevented us from “blowing them away”;). The opponents had the advantage of having two “super-servers” in their team, who managed to spin the balls in our (few, of course) weak defending spots. Also, after we had lost the second set, motivation and confidence to win seemed to have dropped near ground floor level and had to be re-gathered point by point. And then there were of course the predictable mistakes (too little communication, reacting in slow-motion, missing balls). However, we also managed to handle (and save!) a couple of balls we wouldn’t have saved 2 months ago! We’ve come a long way since then! So even though we tried everything, including bribing the referee with some beer, we did not succeed in winning yet. …BUT, next match, girls, we’ll develop an impressive, ridiculously noisy yell, use some warpaint (and ok, a strong defense, strong serves and attacks will help as well)– and then we will blow them off the field! Vamos, dames! |
